GitHub issue #8327 in anthropics/claude-code, opened 2025-09-29 by Toowiredd, records a report that users with valid Claude Pro/Max subscriptions receive a "This organization has been disabled" error in the Claude Code CLI, with the reporter attributing it to a set ANTHROPIC_API_KEY environment variable (from a previously disabled organization) overriding the valid subscription authentication.

Counter-record: Issue remains open as of 2026-10-28; the issue lists 122 comments, of which 120 were retrievable on fetch. Surveyed comments show thread drift: most later commenters report the same error text after subscription renewals, downgrades, or account bans rather than the reporter key-override scenario, and several report that the reporter unset-key workaround did not work for them (for example tkluza, 2025-10-09); the reporter wrote on 2025-10-09 that unsetting ANTHROPIC_API_KEY worked for them. No maintainer resolution appears in the surveyed comments. The claim documents the original report only; the later renewal and ban reports are a different circumstance, not corroboration of the key-override mechanism.
Falsification probe: If issue #8327 is deleted without archive, if the author edits the opening body so the quoted sentences no longer match verbatim, or if the author or maintainers post a definitive retraction showing the described behavior was mischaracterized, this claim drops to Withdrawn.
