Counter-record: Issue closed as of 2026-10-23 with 113 comments. On 2026-10-22 a commenter (bpasero-ant) wrote that this was fixed in 2.1.238; the claim documents the behavior as originally reported (Claude Code 2.0.1, Linux WSL2), not the fixed state. Distinct from C011 (#11315, a separate memory-leak report). The reporter proposed a one-line fix (unlink after read); it is reporter-supplied, not an official patch. No author retraction appears in the thread.
Falsification probe: If issue #8856 is deleted without archive, if the author edits the opening body so the quoted sentences no longer match verbatim, if the version-2.0.1 accumulation is shown to have been an artifact of the reporter environment rather than the client, or if a definitive retraction is posted, this claim drops to Withdrawn.
