GitHub issue #2805 in anthropics/claude-code, opened 2025-07-01 by pm0code, records a report that on Ubuntu Linux, Claude Code creates shell scripts and text files with Windows line endings (CRLF) instead of Unix line endings (LF) even when CLAUDE.md carries explicit instructions; the reporter documents "No such file or directory" errors when executing the scripts and notes a manual sed conversion workaround.
Verbatim Excerpts from Cited Records
“Despite being on Ubuntu Linux and explicitly adding instructions to CLAUDE.md, Claude Code continues to create shell scripts and text files with Windows line endings (CRLF) instead of Unix line endings (LF). This causes "No such file or directory" errors when executing scripts.”

Counter-record: Issue remains open as of 2026-10-22 with 53 comments. An Anthropic collaborator (blois) asked on 2025-07-06 whether the reporter repo held files with carriage returns; the reporter (pm0code) replied on 2025-07-30 that the issue persists on fresh writes. From 2025-07 through 2026-10 multiple commenters corroborate CRLF creation on Linux (some report the reverse on Windows and macOS); no maintainer resolution or author retraction appears in the thread.
Falsification probe: If issue #2805 is deleted without archive, if the author edits the opening body so the quoted sentences no longer match verbatim, or if the author/maintainers post a definitive retraction showing the described behavior was mischaracterized, this claim drops to Withdrawn.
Audit verification: Verified 100% continuous verbatim substring against official GitHub REST API by
