CLAIM C013 Supported 2026-10-17

GitHub issue #22264 in anthropics/claude-code, opened 2026-01-31 by ilanoh, records a report that when Claude Code makes multiple tool calls in parallel in a single message and one of them fails, all remaining sibling calls in that batch are automatically cancelled with the error "Sibling tool call errored", forcing a retry of all the cancelled calls individually.

Verbatim Excerpts from Cited Records
“This forces a retry of all the cancelled calls individually, adding unnecessary round-trips and context usage.”

“All sibling tool calls are cancelled regardless of whether they would have succeeded. Claude then has to re-read files and retry each call individually.”

Counter-record: 35 comments as of 2026-10-16: multiple users corroborate the cascade across Edit, WebFetch and Bash tool calls and on macOS, Windows and Linux. On 2026-06-04 a commenter quoted the v2.1.161 changelog ("a failed Bash command no longer cancels other calls in the same batch") and reported the behavior fixed; on 2026-06-27 another commenter reproduced as fixed on v2.1.195. On 2026-10-16 a commenter reported a workspace hitting the cascade repeatedly on Claude Code CLI 2.1.299 / Desktop Code tab 2.1.295 (Windows 11 host, WSL2 Ubuntu, claude-opus-5). No maintainer retraction of the original report; issue remains open. Falsification probe: If issue #22264 is deleted without archive, if the author edits the opening body so the quoted sentences no longer match verbatim, or if the author/maintainers post a definitive retraction showing the cascade never happened, this claim drops to Withdrawn. Audit verification: Verified 100% continuous verbatim substring against official GitHub REST API by scripts/verify_claim_verbatim.py.
